Monitors

If you enjoy playing or watching hockey, you will find this "job" as a rinkside "Monitor" a real blast! During the round robin play, we'll have 24 rinks going at the same time. Each of those rinks needs a rinkside Monitor who will keep score, throw in a puck to start the game or resume play, and to call penalties when necessary.

Pond hockey is a no-contact, gentleman's game with simple rules. There are no off-side or icing calls, there is no stoppage of play except when the puck leaves the rink it's your job to toss in a fresh puck. Just about all penalties are minor for which the offending team loses a point to their opponent. For all the rules, check the Tournament page.

We expect a Monitor to do officiating duties for as many as 4 games played Friday night, 3 games played Saturday morning, 3 games played Saturday afternoon OR 3 games on Sunday. Each game means a 1 hour commitment.

Interested?? Contact us.

Students

Participate in a great Canadian event, have fun and earn volunteer hours! We have all kinds volunteer jobs for students including puck chasing (there are no boards so pucks do leave the rink), help manage parking, liter clean-up and act as runners for tournament officials.

There are no end of things we need help with! If it snows during the event, we'll need help clearing it to let play continue. During breaks between games sessions, we need help clearing and hosing down the ice to freshen the surface. We need people who are flexible and just want to help - is that you?
