Saturday
was a gorgeous winter day and saw the largest number of parade entries
and biggest estimated attendance of spectators ever seen for a Bolton
Kinsmen Christmas Parade. Many photos are posted on the Kinsmen web
site www.boltonkin.com with the winning float entries shown here.
Kinsmen had five categories for best in show and awarded Best Commercial
Float to United Home Lumber who had their float decorated as a Chipmunk
Christmas with recordings of Alvin and the Chipmunks singing Christmas
Carols. Best Community Float was judged to be Rotary Club of Bolton
who had a well decorated float with the Red Nosed Reindeer mascot and
Christmas Music. Best Float Non-Profit for the second year in a row
was the Kindred Spirits Dragon Boat Team Nut Cracker Float featuring
hand-made nut crackers. Unfortunately, there was not a single school
entered so there was no winner for that category.
A new award was created this year as the Best New Entry which went to
the Simcoe Kart Club which featured a float and four go-carts zipping
around to the delight of kids.
Kinsmen expressed gratitude to the sponsors of the parade this year

Our
2008 Parade was another popular success!
It was
a cold December day but the crowds came out for the Annual Kin Club Parade
to welcome Santa to Bolton.
The theme
of this year's parade was "A Ginger Bread Christmas" and the float entry
judged most reflecting the theme was entered by the YMCA.
The Best
Float overall was judged to be a drum and brass "band" of nut crackers
handmade and entered by team members of The Kindred Spirits Dragon Boat
Racing Team.
The most
impressive commercial float was entered by Diamond Towing and featured
a smoking volcano and a tidal wave.
Organizing
the parade, designing and making floats and organizing marching groups
and bands takes a lot of work for sure but the fact is, the parade just
would not happen without the financial support of our local business leaders.
The Kin Club of Bolton again organized and managed the parade and give
special thanks to the local businesses listed on the right who gave us
their financial support.
Also
much appreciated are trucking companies like Cavalier Transport for supplying
equipment for the floats and Caledon Community Services for communications
support.
